Hungaroring

Twisty and technical, like a kart track scaled up — hot and physical in summer.

What to expect

The Hungaroring is a kart track at Grand Prix scale: corner after corner with barely a straight to rest on, dusty when the wind blows off the surrounding hills, and brutally hot at summer track days. Great for fitness, car balance and humility.

What the ratings mean for your day

Difficulty 3/5 — Moderate. A medium-complexity lap: you will know where it goes by lunch, and you will still be finding better lines in the last session. Bring patience.

Danger 2/5 — Forgiving. A forgiving venue by track standards — most errors end in gravel or grass, not barriers. Still a race track: the standard build-up discipline applies.

Local knowledge

  • Off-line is dusty here — overtake with patience and stay on the rubbered line when tyres are cold.
  • Summer days regularly exceed 30°C — double your water plan and shorten your sessions.

How firstlap tunes your plan here

  • The full standard plan — vehicle prep, packing, safety briefing and countdown timeline, trimmed to your answers.

Ratings are editorial. Difficulty scores how hard the layout is to learn; danger scores what a mistake costs. They are our honest judgement as track day drivers — not an official scale — and they exist to calibrate your preparation, not to rank bravery.
