What to expect
Donington's signature is the Craner Curves: a downhill left-right cascade taken almost flat by the brave and correctly by the patient. The rest of the lap is honest, old-school and readable, which makes it one of the UK's best circuits to learn car control at speed without Brands-level consequences.
What the ratings mean for your day
Difficulty 3/5 — Moderate. A medium-complexity lap: you will know where it goes by lunch, and you will still be finding better lines in the last session. Bring patience.
Danger 3/5 — Moderate. A mixed bag: some corners forgive, some do not. Part of learning this circuit is learning where the hard edges are — before you push, not after.
Local knowledge
- The Craner Curves reward patience; commit gradually across the day.
- The Old Hairpin compresses the car at the bottom of the hill — let it settle before you ask for grip.

Ratings are editorial. Difficulty scores how hard the layout is to learn; danger scores what a mistake costs. They are our honest judgement as track day drivers — not an official scale — and they exist to calibrate your preparation, not to rank bravery.
