What to expect
Spa drops and climbs over 100 metres of Ardennes hillside, and the weather works in microclimates: it can genuinely rain at Les Combes while Blanchimont stays dry. The lap rewards commitment in the fast sections and punishes it when the surface changes mid-corner. First-timers should treat the first two sessions as reconnaissance.
What the ratings mean for your day
Difficulty 4/5 — Complex. A complex lap that rewards homework. Onboard videos and corner names studied before you arrive convert directly into useful laps on the day.
Danger 4/5 — Unforgiving. Barriers, banks or walls wait close to the racing line in places. Your build-up discipline is the main safety system here: pace comes last, after knowledge.
Local knowledge
- Eau Rouge–Raidillon deserves respect all day. Build up over many laps; never take it flat because a video did.
